Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
Manasseh began his fifty-five-year reign in Jerusalem at the age of twelve, doing evil by rebuilding high places, erecting altars to Baal and the host of heaven in the temple, and practicing sorcery and child sacrifice. Because Manasseh led the people astray and filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, the Lord announced through His prophets that He would bring severe calamity and deliver the remnant into the hands of their enemies. After Manasseh died and was buried in the garden of Uzza, his son Amon succeeded him at the age of twenty-two and reigned for two years while continuing the same evil idol worship. Amon's servants conspired and killed him in his palace, but the people of the land executed the conspirators and crowned Amon's son Josiah as the next king.
