Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
A shoot from the stump of Jesse arises, upon whom the Spirit of the LORD rests to judge the poor with righteousness and slay the wicked. During this time, natural predators and prey coexist peacefully, and young children play safely near venomous snakes while the earth is filled with the knowledge of the LORD. The Root of Jesse becomes a banner for the nations, which seek Him out as a glorious resting place. Furthermore, the Lord recovers the surviving remnant of His people from Assyria, Egypt, and other regions, gathering the exiles of Israel and Judah from the four corners of the earth. Ephraim and Judah cease their rivalry, jointly subduing neighboring territories such as Philistia, Edom, Moab, and Ammon. Finally, the LORD dries up the Sea of Egypt and divides the Euphrates into seven streams to create a highway for His returning remnant.
