Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
Five days after Paul's arrival in Caesarea, the high priest Ananias, some elders, and a lawyer named Tertullus appeared before Governor Felix to accuse Paul of causing dissension, leading the Nazarene sect, and attempting to desecrate the temple. When given the opportunity to speak, Paul denied these charges, explained that he had recently come to Jerusalem to worship and bring offerings, and stated that he was actually on trial for his belief in the resurrection of the dead. Governor Felix adjourned the hearing, placed Paul under guard with a degree of freedom for his friends to minister to him, and later listened to him speak about faith in Christ alongside his Jewish wife Drusilla. Felix frequently summoned Paul over the course of two years, hoping for a bribe while also leaving Paul imprisoned when Porcius Festus succeeded him in office.
