Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
After completing the house of the LORD and his palace over a twenty-year period, Solomon rebuilt cities given to him by Hiram, settled Israelites in them, captured Hamath-zobah, and constructed Tadmor and various fortified and store cities. He conscripted the remaining non-Israelite populations as forced laborers while employing Israelites as soldiers, officers, and commanders, and he moved Pharaoh's daughter from the City of David to a newly built palace. Solomon then offered regular burnt offerings on the altar of the LORD and organized the priests, Levites, and gatekeepers according to the commandments of Moses and the ordinances of David. Finally, after the complete finishing of the house of the LORD, Solomon traveled to Ezion-geber and Eloth on the coast of Edom, where Hiram sent ships and experienced sailors who sailed with Solomon's servants to Ophir and brought back 450 talents of gold to the king.
