Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
After King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned safely to Jerusalem, the seer Jehu son of Hanani confronted him, rebuking him for helping the wicked while acknowledging his removal of Asherah poles and his dedication to seeking God. Jehoshaphat then traveled among the people from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim to turn them back to the LORD. He appointed judges in all the fortified cities of Judah, instructing them to judge carefully in the fear of the LORD because God shows no injustice, partiality, or bribery. In Jerusalem, he also appointed Levites, priests, and family heads to settle disputes and handle matters concerning the LORD, alongside Zebadiah for royal matters. Finally, Jehoshaphat commanded these leaders to serve faithfully and resolutely under the oversight of Amariah the chief priest and Zebadiah.
