Berean Standard Bible
Chapter summary
Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers, cedar logs, and workers to Jerusalem to build a palace for David. David then married more wives in Jerusalem and fathered numerous children whose names are recorded. Upon learning that David had been anointed king over all Israel, the Philistines marched out and raided the Valley of Rephaim. After inquiring of God, David successfully attacked the Philistines at Baal-perazim and ordered their abandoned gods to be burned. When the Philistines raided the valley a second time, David followed God's specific tactical instructions and defeated their army from Gibeon to Gezer, causing the LORD to spread fear of David among all nations.
